A regional NGO consolidating Nextcloud, Matrix, Mastodon, a CMS, and a member-data analytics pipeline on one machine; an investigative consortium hosting a multi-publication site whose properties together draw sustained traffic; a press-freedom organisation hosting infrastructure for member outlets; a large secure-collaboration platform serving an editorial network of fifty to two hundred contributors. The EPYC platform's core count is what makes this tier different from DS Mid: where DS Mid favours single-thread latency, DS Pro favours sustained throughput across many concurrent processes.
It is the wrong tier for a workload that fits cleanly in a virtualised environment where co-tenancy is acceptable, and the wrong tier for a workload whose CPU profile is dominated by a small number of latency-sensitive threads. The ten-gigabit uplink is meaningful for video-rich corpora: a documentary back-catalogue served at this tier sustains many concurrent viewers without saturating the link. DS Beast is the answer for a multi-publication consortium consolidating dozens of properties on one machine.
Where this plan can be operated
DS Pro is racked in Iceland or Switzerland. At the 99.99% SLA tier, the operating practices that produce that uptime are the same in both jurisdictions: redundant power, redundant transit, on-site operations, and a 24/7 NOC that responds within minutes. The choice between the two jurisdictions reduces, again, to the legal-frame question — which adversary profile fits which jurisdiction's case-law and treaty posture.
For a regional NGO whose member outlets sit in EU member states, Iceland's geographical and treaty distance from EU domestic prosecutors is the more conservative answer; the IMMI framework and the absence of a Höfundalög-side notice-and-takedown obligation produce a hosting jurisdiction where a foreign press-suppression order has no domestic mirror to enforce against. What the operator sees, and what it does not
DS Pro's operational story compounds the bare-metal posture from DS Lite with the production-grade DDoS shield. The two-hundred-gigabit shield is operationally significant: a publication that draws large-scale adversarial campaigns — coordinated traffic from compromised botnets, reflection-amplification attacks, application-layer floods — needs an upstream filter that survives those campaigns. We see attack patterns and source distributions because we have to in order to filter them; we do not retain that data beyond the operational window required to respond and produce post-incident reports for the customer.
The customer's disk contents, memory contents, and application-layer behaviour all sit behind the operating-system boundary that the customer themselves configures. Full disk encryption with TPM-backed keys is recommended for any workload where it matters; we do not retain the key. Payment in Monero, Lightning, on-chain Bitcoin, or cash; for organisational customers at this price tier, annual prepayment is the cleanest financial surface and matches the cadence at which most NGO procurement processes operate.
